Participating in our virtual races is a great way to stay on track of your fitness goals and keep physically active. They are flexible and are done at your own pace. And, our virtual races are open to everyone – you don’t have to be a 365 Mile Challenge member to participate!
What is a virtual race?
A virtual race is a race that you do at any location you choose usually during a specified time period. It can be around your neighborhood, on a trail, in your home, or anywhere else you choose. Participants receive a medal mailed to you.
How are virtual races from 365 Mile Challenge unique?
Our races are unique because you get to choose your activity along with the location. You can walk, run, bike, paddle, swim, use a treadmill, or any combination of these activities. Any activity that gets your legs moving and your heart pumping counts!
Our virtual races are also done at your own pace. You don’t need to complete the whole distance at once. For example, our Run Wild Week virtual marathon is over 9 days. You can move just under 3 miles a day and complete your marathon (26.2 miles) on the 9th day, or do it all on one day. It’s up to you! You are welcome to record your time of completing the race, however there are no prizes for the best times. Every participant gets a stunning medal and digital finisher’s certificate.
How does a virtual race work?
First, sign up for the virtual race on our website. Your medal will be mailed to you a week before the virtual race begins (if you signed up early). Then, choose your location and activity. You will have access to all features on the 365 Mile Challenge App for the duration of the race to track your progress. Feel free to share your progress in our app’s Community section for encouragement and kudos! Complete the distance required with your chosen activity anytime during the specified time period. At the end of the race, your finisher’s certificate will be available for you right on the app!
How can my virtual race photos be featured?
Use our hashtags when sharing photos on social media! We have hashtags for each virtual race and for the 365 Mile Challenge. Please use the hashtags below for a chance to be featured on our website or on our social media sites. We will always ask permission before using a photo so post away!
How do your virtual races support the National Park Foundation?
We are proud to support the work of the National Park Foundation, the official charity of America’s national parks! We love our national parks and encourage everyone to enjoy the beauty and recreation they offer.
We have donated $665.85 so far to the National Park Foundation!

Run, walk, hike, or bike (or any other activity) 26.2 miles over 9 days! Run Wild Week is a virtual marathon during National Park Week to support the National Park Foundation. You choose the activity and the location, and you do it at your own pace!
May 28-30, 2022: Memorial Day 10k
Move 6.2 miles during Memorial Day Weekend anywhere you choose! Memorial Day 10k is a virtual 10k to support the National Park Foundation. Did you know that there are 30 National Memorials, 11 National Battlefields, 9 National Military Parks, 4 National Battlefield Parks, and 1 National Battlefield Site? All of these historic sites are preserved by NPF and people like you. The Memorial Day 10k is a perfect way to honor fallen members of our military while also supporting our National Parks.
September 3-5, 2022: Labor Day Choose Your Distance Virtual 10K, 15K, or 25K
Celebrate the hard workers of our national parks! Run, walk, hike, bike, or paddle in a virtual race where you choose the distance, location, and pace during Labor Day Weekend!
